Race
I use a stopwatch to measure the time it takes to win on a particular map. Then I compete against myself to better the time.
I always play with the maximum number of computer opponents set at maximum difficulty. I always start with at the least stage of development, just two trucks.
Here are two of my best times
SK Rush: 7:20
SK Clover: 26:15
Two suggestions for a quick victory are never develop past machine guns, they have all the firepower you need if you are quick and don't explore for oil out on the map, just kill an opponent and take his.
Limited Power and Research
I have played this variation against a human player and it makes for an interesting match.
The limited research makes you really think about which parts of the tech tree you want to get and which ones you are prepared to bypass.
Playing on the Wheel map brought about unexpected research tactics. Each quadrant is easily blocked off with an array of machine guns and lancers. Then research can be directed towards VTOLs. After several armor and body upgrades, they become impervious to anti air attacks. Even if your opposing player does nothing but research anti air, they cannot kill your VTOLs after a certain point.
Two Trucks Only
The rule is simple. The only two moving vehicles you can have are the two trucks you start with. You may not build a Factory. This means you cannot research Alloys and so several other research options are cut off, including Howitzers.
This game is a huge and fun challenge against a human player or the computer. Those two delicate trucks are easily destroyed by almost any weapon as the game goes on. The computer has a habit of sending in VTOLs and targeting your trucks.
When playing against a human player the challenge is to kill hims trucks without putting your own at risk. Great fun on a small map.
